Construction began again on January 30 in time for the University Centre to be fully refurbished for September 2006 when the second set of students will enrol.

The £1.5m funding from Objective 1 will be used on the IT infrastructure of the building.

This includes the TV, Radio and MAC studios which will have up-to-date, industry standard equipment for our Journalism and Media Production and Computing students.

The ground floor will house our Music students with rooms fully sound proofed for maximum usage of all technical equipment such as recording studios and mixing decks.

The whole building will be made wireless for increased accessibility to the internet.

Construction will continue throughout the building to replace all the windows and to complete the renovation of all teaching rooms and creation of specialised break out areas for students to relax.
