UCB develop business minds with their Business Mine

Jane Townsend, the Business Mine administratorUniversity Centre Barnsley is offering potential entrepreneurs the opportunity to develop their business skills with the guidance of experts. The Business Mine is an on campus state-of-the-art business development facility and is one of only 200 in the UK. It provides a professional, exciting environment for students and graduates to research and ‘try out’ their business ideas.

The unit is designed to help students develop ideas into working businesses with guidance and support along the way. All have access to professional mentors from a wide range of business backgrounds who are here to offer advice on a number of issues such as financial costs.

The response from students within the University Centre has been very positive with several students on their way to creating sustainable businesses.

Jane Townsend, the Business Mine administrator, says: “Overall we have surpassed the start up targets set and I am very pleased with the students’ response. All the students have found this facility to be extremely helpful.”

This opportunity applies to graduates/undergraduates of Barnsley, Huddersfield, Leeds, Leeds Met, and Bradford, who live in South or West Yorkshire or are planning to move back into the region and are thinking about working for yourself or with a partner.

If you meet the criteria and feel you have the drive and determination to be the next Branson or Gates, or if you have an idea that you want to generate and nurture into a more commercial proposition contact the Business Mine Manager or Mentor in the Business Mine on 01226 644262.
