The Art and Design team at UCB hosted yet another successful exhibition to celebrate and showcase graduate work from the BA(Hons) Interdisciplinary Art and Design course. The distinguishing feature of work on display was the wide range of styles which our students study.
These include, painting, graphic design, jewellery and fine metal, ceramics, surface embellishment, photography, sculpture, installations and print-making. One such student, graduate John Ledger, has become a local celebrity following his environmental themed project.
John caused mystery within the town centre with posters he created and displayed throughout Barnsley of three men wearing gas masks.
John tells us why he chose such a topical area to study, ‘My work is supposed to prick people’s consciences into realising that if things carry on as they are, environmentally, we could all end up living in a world where we have to dash to the shops for a rush-hour gas mask just to survive.
John’s work (shown here) includes sketches, models and paintings.
