UNIVERSITY Vs COLLEGE ….. PROBABLY THE BEST CHARITY FOOTBALL MATCH OF THE YEAR!

Staff at the University Centre Barnsley and Barnsley College have come together to raise money for Barnsley Hospice. Bernard McNicholas from the University Centre organised the charity football match.

He tells us why, 'The University are keen to build relationships with the College as we are a natural progression route for many of their students. And it never hurts to have a bit of healthy competition between the two institutions' Staff from the main University of Huddersfield campus and the University Centre Oldham also took part.

However, it just wasn’t quite enough as University staff suffered a defeat at the boots of Barnsley College with the final score a narrow 9-1. Bernard told us after the match, 'A gallant effort was made by everyone on the UCB team, despite our defeat and it was great to see camaraderie between ourselves and the College.

All we can say if that from September we will be running a new degree is Sports Coaching so the Barnsley College team better get training for next year!' Money is still being collected for the Hospice but so far the total looks set to be well reach over £200.
