Successful Showcase
The University Centre’s first ever Showcase was a great success with over 150 people coming to view our student’s work.
Held in conjunction with the Art and Design Graduate Show both staff and students had the opportunity to show everyone what life is really like at the University Centre Barnsley.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bob Cryan, also attended the event and commented on the impressive way in which both staff members and students work so well together. He told us, ‘I am extremely proud of the achievements of the students and their creativity was clearly demonstrated in the many wonderful projects. I am sure that their parents, relatives and friends will have been impressed by their excellent work.’
Guests spent time browsing and getting involved in exhibitions which included, musical computer games that taught guests how to drum, demonstrations of our motion-capture suit – technology which is used in blockbuster films such as Lords of the Rings, ‘live’ news broadcasts in our TV studio and fitness testing with our sports coaching students. As well as display from academic subjects such as business, psychological studies, health and community studies, construction and education.
